Was it really a mistake?
Some Nigerians preferred Abacha's regime. They even go as far as wishing him many blessings and happy sleep in his grave.

Just shows the level of incompetence & the quality of our consular staff & ambassadors.

Incompetence when rewarded @ the top, can only be excused at this level. The whole project is in the hands of a dead -man. scary

This story has made my day:D. No doubt we shall soon hear the usual run of the mill nonsesne from the numerous privatisations committees, sub-committees and even their drivers sub committees:D telling us about how the FG and the Hungarian investors have signed yet another MOU!!!!

To be honest those booklets should be sent to BRITISH AIRWAYS to remind them of the ONLY GOOD DEED by the the late General Sani Abacha. I will leave you guys and girls to figure out what that was!!!!

This error is unpardonable and those involved must be recalled and disciplined. Clearly it showed that the Africa Day and the need to woo investors were not taken seriously. Otherwise there should have been rehearsals and thorough organisation before the Day.If the immediate President Olusegun Obasanjo or even Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar's picture or pamphlet was displayed, the error would have been teneble but Sani Abacha's is not acceptable.

I am sure this was deliberately done but when they saw the reaction, they claimed it was a mistake.

I am ashamed to be associated with those lost diplomats and thanks for bringing this to us. I am a faithful reader of your work on New Nigerian Politics. Please keep writing.

At every turn, we screw up at home or abroad....something as simple as this cannot be handled properly by an embassy...is there hope for this country?

At least, they acknowledged the error....that has never happened before.

Good write-up as usual.

The proper to do is to call for her resignation. When a high ranking western government official makes a mistake he or she resigns.Since she is working abraod, the same culture of resignation should apply to her.
The author should take up this responsibility and call on her to resign.

There is need to blame the present government, upon assumption of any new government there is always immediate order to update all protocol and documents covering all the incoming government like website, booklets and whatever records in hand.it is very important hence such occurrences.

This incident must not go unpunished. It is utterly preposterous and contemptuos of the Yar'Adua government for the Nigerian Ambassador in Budapest to allow such a stupendous mistake to occur. The ambassador is incompetent, irresponsible and un-representative of Nigeria of today.
He does not care for his job and does not mind giving Nigeria a negative image in the present democratic dispensation and effort. Nigeria's foreign ministry should enquire how such a grave incident occurred and punish those who are responsible. Nigeria's ambassador to Hungary should be recalled immediately and retired. He is a useless representative of Nigeria on the international scene.

A carmel was asked, why his neck look crooked? The carmel turned and asked, which part of my body look straight? Thats Nigeria for you!

Am not convinced that those fools at the embassy are qualified to represent us....they should be all deported to their respective villages. What a waste of Nigeria's taxpayer's money.

Please keep exposing those jokers in Budapest. What a colossal embarrassment for us all. Our embassy not aware of the fact that Abacha died ten years ago and there have been three men in Aso Rock since. What else will they come up with next time?
